In England, conditions are going to favor pacers. Australia has a Dangerous pacer Trio – Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Josh Hazelwood.
Many are confused about whether India should go with 3 pacers and 2 spinners or 4 pacers and 1 spinner. If 1 spinner then Shardul Thakur or Jaydev Unadkat. Rohit Sharma scored 368 runs at an excellent average of 52.27 in four Tests in India’s 2021 tour of England. He has aggregated 650 runs at an average of 34.21 in the 11 Tests he has played against Australia. Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill were in tremendous form in IPL 2023. Mohammad Shami was also the highest wicket-taker holding a purple cap.
The intense rivalry between Australia and India has grown over the past few decades. Even though India has defeated Australia in all three of their most recent Test series (Border Gavaskar Trophy), Finch thinks the WTC championship game is still open to anyone.
“I think the rivalry is held in such high regard in both countries, that I think it brings out the best in both teams. Obviously, India has had the better of Australia in the last three series I think, so both teams will rise to the occasion no matter where it’s played, at home or away, or this time at neutral territory. It’s just a must-watch thing.” Former Australian Captain Aaron Finch said.
